Award Honour Puts Training Scheme Amongst Best in the Region
Wednesday, 21st October, 2009Leicester YMCA was recognised at a prestigious training awards ceremony last night for developing the Customer Service NVQ in partnership with Skills Point, South Leicestershire College and Graham Field. Organisations and individuals from across the East Midlands gathered at The National Training Awards to honour those who have made an outstanding contribution and commitment to training in the workplace.
The Regional Training Award winners were presented with the trophy by ITV Central Tonight presenter Sameena Ali-Khan. The awards are organised by UK Skills on behalf of the Department for Business, Innovation and Skills (BIS). In addition to the regional awards, four projects were announced to go forward to the National Awards.
Simon Bartley, Chief Executive of UK Skills which manages the National Training Awards said: "The winners in the East Midlands have demonstrated that training is an investment not a cost and that it can transform companies, careers, and communities. I congratulate them all on what they have achieved."
Skills Minister Kevin Brennan said: "It is more important than ever that we continue to support and invest in the training of our workforce, helping individuals develop their skills as well as helping businesses stay competitive and prepare for the upturn. This year's winners demonstrate the diverse range of training taking place within the UK and the benefits it is delivering to organisations and employees."
