Charitable trust brings seasonal sparkle to The Y
Monday, 14th December, 2015A glittering fundraising evening held in Leicester means that local homeless people will be able to access hot cooked breakfasts over the winter months.
Three Leicester charities will benefit from over £20,000 raised by business leaders and entrepreneurs at the Star Trust’s inaugural “Frost Me” dinner, held at the new Lumbers flagship store in the city on Thursday 3rd December.
The Star Trust’s donation of almost £8,000 to The Y in Leicester is entirely funding the charity’s Cold Weather Café which will provide hot cooked breakfasts and support to the city’s homeless this winter.
Until the start of December no funding had yet been secured for the project which normally starts on 1st December each year – the Trust’s intervention has enabled The Y to provide vital shelter and warm food to vulnerable people over what is predicted to be a harsh winter.
“We’re really excited that the Star Trust were able to step in to fund the Cold Weather Café and we were launch it last Monday (7th). Frost Me was a really impressive event and the generosity of attendees will have an immediate impact on homeless people in the city.” Paul Brown, Chief Executive
Janine Edwards, committee member at Star Trust said: “This inaugural Frost Me event has been a truly spectacular evening, delivering the premium quality event and exceptional fundraising totals with which the Star Trust has become synonymous.
“The funds raised at this event will have an immediate impact on the lives of people in our local communities. As always, our supporters have dug deep in aid of these very worthy causes, and it’s an honour for the Trust to be able to make a very real difference to those in need across the county.
“Star Trust is committed to supporting small charities who can struggle to raise the funds they so badly need, and we would urge any small, East Midlands-based charity that is seeking funds for a specific project to get in touch so that we can lend our support.”
